Testosterone is a sex hormone that plays a vital role in the body. It is a male hormone and it helps to regulate sex drive, bone mass, fat distribution, muscle mass and strength, and helps in the production of red blood cells and sperm.

With the increase in the age of a man, the testosterone level also decreases. Testosterone is produced by the testicles. There are many side effects which can be seen with high levels of testosterone in men.

  • A person starts developing acne or their skin gets oily.
  • There is a swelling in the prostrate.
  • With a higher level of testosterone in men, they face difficulty in sleeping.
  • Fluid retention is also one of the reasons behind higher testosterone level and because of this there is an increase in the weight of person.
  • Decrease in the size of testicle could also be the sign of high levels of testosterone. The sperm count also decreases.
  • There is a reason behind symptoms like shrinking testicles and breast enlargement is because of the higher level of testosterones it gets converted into estrogen, a female hormone.
  • It also plays many important roles, such as in the development of penis and testes, the deepening of voices, because of the testosterone, the appearance of facial and pubic hair. Having too much of testosterone is a common problem among men.
  • With the high level of it, we can see the evidence of road rage. Higher level of testosterone can cause heart muscle damage, and increase the risk of heart attack or cardiac arrest.
  • Prostate enlargement causes much difficulty in urinating.
  • A person also suffers from insomnia that means he is unable to sleep properly.
  • Woman who is suffering from any disease or drug use and have a higher level of testosterone, can experience an increase in the size of the breast and deepening of the voice.
  • During teenage, rising level of testosterone causes the growth of testicles, penis and pubic hair. The voice also becomes heavy and the body hair and muscles start growing.

The body has a system, which controls many hormones production. Our body sends messages through hormones and chemicals are released into the blood stream. The production of testosterone starts in the brain. the hypothalamus commands the pituitary gland on how much testosterone a body need and the pituitary sends that information to the testicles.

Excess of testosterone can cause many troubling symptoms and a numerous health consequence.

  • Like excess testosterone can lead to more aggressive nature of a person and an irritable behaviour. Genetics also plays a role in high level of testosterone in a person body.
  • A high increase in the level of testosterone will raise the bad cholesterol levels also and thus lead to many heart health problems.
  • Infertility is also caused by a high level of testosterone. Studies also show that with a higher level of testosterone there is a much higher risk of developing blood clots and heart diseases.

Because both high and low level of testosterone levels are disruptive to a person health, so it’s important to keep both of them in a healthy range.
